Our beginnings
In 2008, a group of independent optometrists came together with a shared belief: that personal, compassionate eye care was being left behind by finance-first corporations. So they built something different — a network where doctors lead, patients come first, and expertise is always in service of people.
We grew because the model worked. New technology, shared knowledge, world-class manufacturing, and a commitment to doing right by every patient meant that success followed care - every single time.

Our milestones
Founded
Dr. Alan Ulsifer and a group of independent optometrists across Canada came together around one belief: that eye care led by doctors is better eye care.
A thousand lenses in a single day
Our lab passed 1,000 custom lenses in one day, and Dr. Ulsifer was named Canada's EY Entrepreneur of the Year.
Coast to coast
We entered the Quebec market and passed $225 million in revenue, making the network truly national.
Investing in the profession
The FYidoctors Simulation Lab opened at the University of Waterloo, helping train the optometrists who come next.
A lab of our own
Our state-of-the-art ophthalmic lab and eyewear production facility opened in Delta, BC, and L Catterton made a strategic minority investment in the group.
Into the USA
We crossed the border, bringing our doctor-led model to communities in the United States.
Frame to lens to clinic
FYihealth group passed $1 billion in value, acquired the WestGroupe frame company and welcomed BonLook - and was named one of Canada's Top Growing Companies by The Globe and Mail.

Five million lenses, and care on the road
Our Delta lab reached five million custom lenses made, and our first Mobile Optometry Clinic began bringing exams to communities that need them.
