At FYihealth group, we don't just hire students — we support future optometrists.
We offer many pathways designed for every stage of your journey, from summer placements starting as soon as you're approved for Optometry School, all the way through to full-time new graduate roles at 400+ clinic locations across Canada. Whether you're exploring the profession or stepping into your first full-time position, there's a place for you here — and people who are genuinely invested in helping you get there.
Find your pathway
Our externship program offers OD3 and OD4 students structured clinical clerkship placements in our clinics across Canada. You'll gain hands-on experience in a full-scope practice environment, supported by experienced doctor mentors. Placements are available coast to coast.
If you're a Canadian optometry student studying at a US institution, our Scholars Program offers financial support to help make your education more accessible. In return, you'll build a relationship with FYihealth group ahead of graduation — and a potential pathway to joining our team.
Pre-OD through OD2 students can join us for 1–12 weeks between May and August. You'll work alongside experienced optometrists, build real clinical skills, and get a genuine feel for what a career at FYihealth group looks like. Applications open in early spring.
Connect your classmates with FYihealth group before they graduate. As a Campus Ambassador, you'll represent us at your school, host events, and facilitate mentorship connections between students and practicing FYi optometrists. It's a great way to build your network and develop leadership skills while still in school.
Just graduated? We have full-time and part-time optometrist roles available at 400+ locations across Canada and the USA. As a new grad, you'll have access to mentorship from experienced doctors, a supportive team, and the resources to build your practice from day one.

The OD Shadowing program offers students the opportunity to experience a day in the life of an optometrist. By observing patient care, clinical decision-making, and practice operations firsthand, students gain a deeper understanding of the profession and the importance of individualized, patient-focused care.
